Aspen: I'm going to need a rolling suitcase now just for all my VT maps, guidebooks, and printed posts from this forum.

Aspen: crazy! Borders just called and said they have it and are including it with my order! I'll be armed with bridge info when I get to Vermont! I'm trying to locate the trifold map now that Andy suggested which I want to include in my Vermont Library!

Bridges, bridges and more bridges!

MMVT and Aspen: Thank you. Borders is holding the Explorer's Guide for me for pickup tomorrow. I'll inquire about their covered bridge guidebook too. Taftsville Bridge looks great. I'll start another folder for bridges now and will try to match some to our routes! (I'm trying to stay organized so as...

Scenic Covered Bridges Recommendations

I would like to know if you can recommend scenic covered bridges in areas of my upcoming Vermont trips. Perhaps a list for those doing northern Vermont this season would also be helpful. Then we can save them for future excursions. I've seen a couple, but never really concentrated on covered bridges...

ixl: thanks for this note. I've warned them about the foliage but I feel better knowing that at least our first 1/2 day in Old Bennington might be somewhat salvaged color-wise. Hopefully, they will be satisfied with memories of visiting some of the favorite towns I've previously listed, covered brid...

Blue Benn Diner

Courtmel: I've been to the Blue Benn and highly recommend it! We went last fall and it was delicious but we got the last two seats at the counter which was a lot of fun - they also have booths. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance there - it was pretty crazy! All the menus are written up in chalk on t...

PWT: we'll miss you on this forum that's for sure! I've decided the best way to get some foliage in for my visitors so late in the season, and I'll need advice on this, is to leave CT and go up the Mohawk Trail to North Adams and over to Bennington. Do the hot spots in Bennington, eat at Blue Benn D...

Thanks PWT. I'll just hope for the best as far as foliage and enjoy the excursions. I'll use your suggestions esp. in the Danby and Brandon areas, some of my favorites.

Funny you should mention this story! Every time we go to VT we ask ourselves if we will see moose and all we see are signs for moose crossings! Maybe we'll see one when we least expect it! This is a cute post, thanks!

These pictures are outstanding. They should get everyone extremely excited to begin their VT journey. I loved the covered bridges and will be anxious to hear where they are. Some look familiar. The ranges are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing those!

Yeah! 3rd trip to Vermont on tap! So. VT. foliage inquiry??

Get to take some more Californians to Vermont on Oct. 20 and 21. We are staying in Wilmington. What do you think we will encounter as far as foliage this late in the game? I've never gone to VT this late but guests not arriving until 10/19. I've packed the schedule with many diversions as far as tow...

Pawlet to Danby

Aspen: out of Pawlet you take Route 133 for a short time and then bear right on Danby-Pawlet Road (nice drive) then at Danby Four Corners turn right on Danby Mountain Road and follows sign to Danby - I think it's just Danby Road. At Danby, you'll pick up Route 7. (Danby Four Corners is very small an...

Hi Aspen: I've done some of this loop. Manchester Center and Depot is going to be an absolute zoo however. Keep that in mind for bottle necks in traffic and valuable time wasted in this area. I'll defer to bm and PWT for foliage expectations in your loop. Also, a neat detour for a spur of the moment...
