Hi PWT, I will be traveling from Southeast MA to Barton VT on Wed. Oct. 3rd. We always take Rte 93 until it ends, to Rte 91 in St. Johnsbury to exit 25 (Barton) I was thinking about changing our route for a change of scenery and wanted to try to incorporate Andy's Mad River spot. I figured we'd need...

The Red Sox and Pat's are both winning their games at the moment, and now I see that my crossover vehicle can make it to the lookout. I am a very happy g...

Hi Andy, It took me a while to find your recent pictures. I was looking in the contributors Oct. 2006 album that we all posted to last year. I finally scrolled down and saw Tim's post about the new photo spot that he created. Thanks for posting your beautiful pictures. It really helps to be able to ...

Hi Andy, Yes, I am almost positive that is correct. You're right. Rtes 14 and 58 are merged for a short distance and rte 14 keeps going straight North (leads you into Newport). Rte 58 heads west. I know Rte 58 turns left (from the map I have) and I do believe that is the road that the round barn is ...

Northeast Kingdom photo ops

There is a road in Barton called Kinsey Road that I have driven past a million times. I turned down it this past winter and I was in for quite a surprise. Up ahead on the left there was a view of Barton Village. It is a classic Vermont village scene with a white steepled church with a large hill beh...

Hi Elexis, Since you are planning on Sept. 27th-30th, I would think anywhere in Northern and perhaps parts of central VT would be your best bet. I have gone to the Northeast part of the state that same weekend for the past few years, and it has been near peak and in some spots peak at that time. I w...

My favorite is the view of Harvey's Mountain from Barnet Center. It's a popular, classic shot. I also spent some time exploring the Danby, Rupert, Pawlet area. Wow. What a beautiful place. It's pretty "undiscovered". Lots of great backroads, views. Hi BM, Could you provide me with any dir...

We love the Northeast Kingdom area--Back in 2003 we saw some really stunning color near the end of Sept--It was around Route 114 that we basically drove--This year we'll be up there again--Can anyone suggest additional routes in that same area? thanks Hi Wentworth, I'm not so good at giving directi...

What's your "crossover" car? PWT, I purchased a 2007 Ford Freestyle in March. I LOVE it. I was looking for a vehicle with third row seating and all wheel drive. It has the roominess of a minivan, but a "sportier" look and it has all wheel drive. I test drove the Toyota Highlande...

Hi PWT, Thanks for the update. We are definately heading up there this year. We are taking my "crossover" vehicle on our weekend trip (Sept. 29th and 30th), so I will have to see if we have enough ground clearance for that road to the lookout. I WANT TO GO TO THAT LOOKOUT!!!!!!! :D Otherwi...
