Re: SAT 10-5 Foliage Report
Yes, a buddy I bumped into in Peacham was saying the same thing, that climate change seems to have had a negative effect on the foliage. But there have been good years and bad years for vibrant colors, so who is to say next year won't knock our socks off. Meanwhile, I take great pleasure in finding ...

SAT 10-5 Foliage Report
Route 232 between Groton and Marshfield held the best color I saw on my visit today! Stunning, considering Cabot was a major disappointment with dismal brown on the Danville Hill Road and behind the Foster Covered Bridge. My only Cabot recommendation is the free cheese samples at the factory. I gree...

Moose walks into a Vermont Scenic
On a drive along route 2 between Danville and Marshfield Vermont on a rainy Columbus Day, a farm drew my attention. As I began photographing the scene, I noticed some movement on the right, and there she was. A moose striding past the cattle in the field. I managed to get a few shots before she exit...

Re: A name for this farm?
Oh, I see where you were in Rochester, but Google maps don't specify names to most of the farms nearby.

Re: A name for this farm?
There are Quarry Hills all over Vermont. Can you be more specific about the town or where on Route 100 you were.

Re: Rain#@!#@!#@!???
I just drove the Kanc today (10-5) and lower elevations still look good, with the best color on the Lincoln N.H. side. I also delighted in surprisingly bright colors on the higher elevations of Sugar Hill. My day began in Peacham, Vermont, but many trees had serious leaf drop, with individual trees ...

Re: 2012 Foliage slideshow
A beautiful portfolio which should make you proud, especially the shots taken in inclement weather. You were there, while others stayed home. I especially love "Mirror Reflections" which should be put up on your wall in a 16 by 20 or larger print!

Re: Owl's Head Overlook?
It's off route 232. There is a gate that's locked early. I believe it's opened by 9am. Take a left onto the marked access road if you're heading south, or right if heading north. You can drive almost to the top, where there's parking, then walk up a short steep trail to get to the top. Great views i...

Re: Wednesday's Route - Insane?
You come so close to the can't miss town of Peacham when you drive through Barnet. I would suggest including Peacham in your travels. Remember your route is not flat land. It will take a lot longer through the hills, and if you're anything like me, you'll be stopping frequently. Unless you really ne...

I thought you might be interested in seeing some of the aerial photos of Vermont shared by the Springfield MA Republican newspaper. http://photos.masslive.com/republican/2011/09/aerial_photos_of_vermonts_hurricane_irene_damage_47.html I have plans to visit the first week of October, but have...
