New England trip for my friends with a toddler

Hi everyone My friends would like to spend a long weekend (Thursday to Sunday) in New England in the third weekend of October (18th-21st). They are flexible in term of location. They have a 2 year old toddler, so they would like a place in which they could do some easy hiking, and with a town with s...

Re: It's September 1st! The First Day of Meteorological Fall!

I have been reading a few articles all saying foliage peaks will be late this year

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

Hi CTYanky, wow, so many great suggestions!
We will either take 7, down to Williamston (as you suggested) or 91 and then 9 down to North Adams. The difference is probably less than half and hour.
What is more scenic? Probably the former?

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

Thanks! I will check that area too!

Any recommendation on Berkshire MA also? I was thinking about driving across this region on our way back to Philly on the last day.
I was thinking of the Mohawk trail, that should be perfect in mid-October.

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

Our lodge was in Grafton last year, really nice place!
All green in mid-October though last year, let's see this year :)

Thanks again!

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

Hey Ctyanky!
There will be only one additional night, probably somewhere in SE Vermont (where will be spending the last day before driving back to Philly).
Thanks everyone!

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

Thank you! Following Ctyanky’s suggestion we decided we will be spending two days in the Kancamamgus highway area, in the White Mts. What I have been told is that there, since there are different elevations, you can find good colors somewhere pretty much any time from end of September to mid October...

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

Thanks, I will check those places!

Still no precise idea for the lodging, I will definitely ask for some suggestions in the next days/weeks as soon as I have a better plan :)

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

Thank you both for the replies! Unfortunately we are locked with the dates, since my wife teaches and she will have the 15 and 16 off. What Vermont area should be the best in that weekend normally? Last year we were in VT during the same weekend, and it was all green in south VT, and we found nice c...

NEK and Moose Alley NH

Hi everyone, My wife and I are thinking to come back to New England from Philly this fall, after the beautiful trip last here. The idea would be to split 4 days between NEK and NW New Hampshire (mostly moose "hunting" in the Moose Alley, near Pittsburg NH). In a normal season, would the 11...

Thanks Ctyanky!
Many trees have been green longer than usual here as well!
Now the cold arrived and things are changing quickly

Foliage in Philly

Despite the weird foliage season in New England, Philly had one of the best foliage in the last several years.
Here are some pictures from yesterday:

Re: Pictures from my weekend in Vermont (Oct 13-15)

Thanks Utah Baker! I have to say that these beautiful places were really scattered in the Vermont state, and from Bellow Falls (were our B&B was) we had to drive several tens of miles every day to get to see colors. I guess it was because of the weird foliage here. Here in Philly, trees that usu...
