Southern Connecticut 10-27-20
I went down to New Haven today with my son to check out the Fall foliage. I was expecting decent foliage color, but the area away from the coast is about 50-75% bare. The only color left is the rust/brown color from the Oaks. We drove home via Route 1, Route17, Route 22 and Route 66 back to I-91. We...

Re: Connecticut Fall Foliage 2020
Past peak here is Enfield and going bare. I did a quick drive down to Bloomfield and it's not any better further South. 1-91 in town is about 50% bare. The rain this week will finish off alot of the foliage.

Re: Connecticut Fall Foliage 2020
Rain here this morning and now my area is past peak. Some nice stand alone color in spots, but panorama areas are going bare. What's interesting is how early the Oaks are changing. It's about 10 days early. Right now it's less than 10% still green here.

Re: South/Central Massachusetts - Quabbin Reservoir
The backside of Mount Tom yesterday, not the best picture with low lighting levels. This is close to the Oxbow. The green trees are Oaks.

Re: South/Central Massachusetts - Quabbin Reservoir
The Oxbow is a cutoff part of the Connecticut River formed by a flood in 1840. I like the area for it's late season foliage. The background of the Oxbow includes the backside of Mount Tom, which is mostly Oak trees. Unfortunately the marina that I used to take this picture is now roped off and marke...

Here in Enfield, it's going past peak, though it's still colorful in spots. The rain forecast for next week is going to be the end of foliage around here.

Barkhamsted Reservoir - N. Connecticut 10-22-20
I did a quick drive to Barkhamsted Reservoir today, near peak foliage conditions with the Oaks, going bare with other deciduous specie's. I headed South on Route 179 torwards North Canton and the trees were quite bare. I turned around and went home.

South/Central Massachusetts - Quabbin Reservoir
My original intent was to go to the Oxbow and Sugarloaf Mountain along the Connecticut River. I visited the Oxbow with peak foliage along I-91 from Enfield to the Oxbow. I drove to Mount Sugarloaf with mostly bare trees along I-91 after Northampton, but it was closed. After that I decided to go to t...

Mohawk Mountain webcam link, still looks like nice foliage color there. Unfortunately the Ski Sundown webcam isn't working.

I'd say the foliage color in Northeastern Connecticut is the worst I've seen since moving to Connecticut in 2006. The severe drought seems to have stressed the tree's. Very little color and trees going bare early. By comparison, Northwestern Connecticut has beautiful color. Here in Enfield, we are k...

Re: Connecticut Fall Foliage 2020
On October 10th, I drove on Route 190 to Route 32, I-84, to Route 197 and Bigelow Hollow, Route 169 to Woodstock, Route 44 back to Route 31. Not good foliage anywhere and about 60% bare around Woodstock. Even today, heading towards Stafford Springs, the foliage started going bare. Frankly I wouldn't...
