Color Popping in NH

In Lebanon we are still pretty green, but geez like in the last day or two Enfield and points south have gone gangbusters. I drove down Rt. 89 to go to Newport this afternoon and the color on Rt. 89 was stunning. Perhaps the brightest I've ever seen. I think the sun was hitting it just right yet dif...

Re: Foliage color in the NEK

I was in NEK today. I didn't go quite all the way to Newport. I was in Lyndonville, Burke, Charleston and Westmore. I found the color to be spotty. There was some good color along 114 in spots. I tried to go up the scenic road for Burke Mountain, but it was closed. They were doing some kind of work ...

Re: Foliage is getting started early this year

Loafer, around the 5th is usually good timing for Quill Hill in Rangeley, ME. It's a spectacular 360 degree view. It's $10 per car and $5 per additional person to go up, but it is worth it. Maine has a had a bit more rain than us in NH, so I imagine the leaves will last longer. The foliage report I ...

Re: Foliage color in the NEK

Wow, that is pretty far along already. The reds and oranges really have sprinted ahead this year. I might not make up to NEK in time this year.

Re: Foliage color in the NEK

I drove from Norwich, VT up to Bradford, VT today going up Rt. 91. I saw some decent color between Thetford and Bradford. Maybe 10 - 20% turned in spots higher on the hills/mountains. Super bright colors, reds and oranges, a few yellows. Quite nice color behind the Hannaford's in Bradford. I would e...

I usually end up in the foliage forum, even though my primary interest is photography. I'll have to post here more often.

Re: Differences between this forum and Social Media

I never created a Facebook account for the very reasons you've mentioned. Plus I don't like the way Zuckerberg does business. I look forward to this forum every fall. So fun to chat with everyone and hear about their travels. Plus, the intel on what looks good at the moment can't be beat.

Re: Peak colors in NH especially the White Mountains better than Vermont

I agree Krishna, the White Mountains were much better, they usually are. Maine has also been great. I was in Maine today and came back through Gorham again, but as opposed to Friday, I did see quite a bit of leaf drop on some mountainsides. I'd say 30% or so. Maine hasn't had much leaf drop. Bethel ...

OFF TOPIC: White Mountains - 10/11/19

NH is bursting with color. I took Rt. 4 east to 118 North through Enfield and Canaan. 118 has a lot of color. If you hiked Mt. Cardigan you'd have one heckuva view. Definitely peak on the mountains. From there I did a turn west on Rt. 112 (The Kanc) and visited Beaver Pond, then started east on 112....

Mt. Tabor is always a favorite of mine, it is along Rt. 7. I may try that myself this weekend.

Yeah, looks a bit past. White Mountains might still be good for this weekend.

Re: Peak Color Route 2 Corridor!

I got some good pics at Marshfield Pond last year so I didn't stop. Plus today was just a boring sky day, not one for interesting photos. I don't know yet what I'll do before the rain comes tomorrow. I'm kind of worn out after the last two days. One shot I like to get is one of the tree-lined Darlin...

I wish I had known about that sooner, I'd have gone. What fun those doggies must have had. I looked at the pics from the previous dog parties at the link you posted. I may have to check that out next year.

Re: SAT 10-5 Foliage Report

I was mostly disappointed today as well. I saw a lot of leaf drop. I took 302 west to 232 North and most of the color looked a bit past it. There was some over by Kettle Pond that looked to be ok. I then went up Rt. 2 east and stopped a Molly's Pond. I found a bit of good color there. Then back onto...

Kanc Report

I was on part of the Kanc today, from 93 eastward. I'd say it's near peak. Color was great until Rocky Gorge, from there eastward it was really green, just a few trees here and there had turned. I went to the Fryeburg Fair in Maine to shoot the harness racing and Fryeburg was very green as well. I w...
