Re: Lowell and Sheffield
Someone posted instructions on how to find the place, I think perhaps NEK. Thanks for that. I found (nearby) Duck Pond on my own, but I never would have found this place on my own given that the entrance off 122 is unmarked. It was worth the trip. I would have gone on to Long Pond, but the trail was...

Re: Lowell and Sheffield
Some people I ran into there, hunters, told me it was Long Pond. But, I see on a more careful inspection of my map that it is actually called Duck Pond, just to the east of Holbrook State Park, and west of I 91. It was the great color I saw to the west of I 91 as I headed up this morning that drew m...

Lowell and Sheffield
Irish Hill Road near Lowell.jpg Long Pond near Sheffield.jpg I covered a lot of territory today. Hazen's Notch, mostly chartreuse, and perhaps five days to peak, but it will not be red, or orange, instead just yellow. But the hills to the north are quite red. A lot of red to the west of I 91 starti...

Re: wow NEK colors coming on strong
Good color on the Kanc today. Quite a bit more red than most years. About 60% color in Sugar Hill/Franconia. Quite a bit of red, but perhaps five days to peak.

Re: Most stunning tree tunnels
One of best I know is on the road from Newfane to South Wardsboro. It is about midway, a few hundred yards after a large barn that is on the right hand (north) side of the road. There are several gentleman farmer houses and barns in the vicinity, but no one is ever there. Each side of the road is fl...

Summer rainfall?
Can anyone comment on whether summer rainfall in VT/NH is above average, below average or normal? After 12 autumns in VT I find aummer rainfall to be the most reliable preseason indicator of foliage quality.

Re: We Are Under A WIND Advisory - 10/7/13
Strong winds and heavy rain in Woodstock in late afternoon, lasting about 25 minutes. It was too late in the day to see the effect.

Re: NEK this weekend
I am in the Woodstock area. It is coloring up fast here, but it is still only about 50%. I was in the Corinth/Topsham/Vershire/Chelsea area today, and the color there was excellent. Yesterday I was in the Warren/Lincoln/Bristol/Waitsfield area. The color was excellent on the western half of the Linc...

Re: Any updates on Seyon Pond or view from Owl's Head Lookou
color will be good there for three or so days. if there is sun from behind you it will be great.
there are two utility wires strung across the pond, which i do not recall from before, and which interfere with a nice panorama of the whole pond and the mountains behind.

Very good color today on the western half of the Green Mtn gap roads, and on 17. Fair color on the Common Road above Waitsfield, and fair color on Bragg Hill Rd. This is from 17. Bright skies are a boon.
