change of color in the Killington area

Just came back from the Vermont State Fair in Rutland, via route 4 to Woodstock. Couldn't help noticing the darkening of the still green foliage around Killington. This is usually a good sign that things are on schedule.

Re: Late September?

Last week of September should be fine for the Northeast Kingdom and anywhere with high elevation in the north, such as Smugglers' Notch, Jay Peak, and the Gap in the west.

NEK foliage now moving past peak

The progression of the color has been very fast his year. Color in the NEK peaked on Wednesday and now it is past peak. A lot of the leaves have taken on that frizzled look. Still, Friday was a beautiful sunny day, nice and crisp and the colors came alive on the Clyde at Charleston. View here the pa...

Re: Just Arrived in Bennington. Where should we head for Foilage thru Thurs?

I would stick to higher terrain. Did you read the State Foliage report? If you get to Rutand, go east towards Woodstock and Quechee, You will go through the Killington area which is higher altitude. Much of the state is still green. so head north. I was at the top of the Sugarbush ski area yesterday...

September 19th 2018 foliage aerial

The color seems to be developing quite fast in this one spot, near Lake Seymour and Morgan, in the Northeast Kingdom. Elsewhere it is still pretty much green
