Re: Can we get some Vermont photography going again?
Here in northern Vermont, we have finally broken out of the deep freeze. Daytime highs that don't get above 0 degrees makes getting motivated to get out and take photos difficult. :D Here are a few from the last couple of months - https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4756/25745593008_c63a5826d9_c.jpg Fost...

Re: Off Topic- Storm
A lot of downed trees here in the NEK, mostly softwoods and poplar from what I've seen. I was lucky that the power was out in my neighborhood for less than 12 hrs. Some areas were out for 5-6 days.

That first shot is great! Definitely magazine worthy. So much Vermont rolled up in one photo.

Re: Rt. 232 & Owls Head
It may have something to do with the parks going into off-season mode after Columbus Day weekend. Typically, the foliage is long gone in Groton by now.
That said, someone should really be opening that gate. Owl's Head is one of the most heavily promoted foliage viewing spots in the state.

That is from Nichols Pond from Nichols Ledge. A place I have yet to visit. It involves a bit of a hike to access that view.

The Past 4 Days
I was camping in Groton this past weekend and experienced good color there. Not the best I've seen but it wasn't bad. It was cloudy most of the weekend but since I was staying there I was flexible and able to get some good shots. Kettle Pond: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4492/23768904898_db5485e1b...

Some just call it unusual weather.
Most science leans toward this type of weather becoming more common.

I'm going to have to let Denzel handle this one... https://media.giphy.com/media/14ceV8wMLIGO6Q/giphy.gif Color is exploding all over. True it isn't ridiculously good like last year but, IMHO, it has tipped the scale toward average here in the Lyndonville area. Everything that was still green is tur...

...many trees might show a little color later... Yeah this year is a complete reversal of the year we had last year. The worst I've seen since 2005. However, All is not lost, yet. I just got back from a lunchtime cruise around the West Burke/Sutton area and the change since yesterday is quite appar...

Lyndonville area 10/3
Took a quick drive around the hill this morning. Sorry to report more of the same. Still lots of green along some field edges, and lower stories of the forest. Colors that are around are very muted. Most sugarbushes in this area are completely gone by (aided by maple leaf cutters). After 3 frosty ni...

Tim that is one spectacular photo. We will be in Vermont for the full Harvest moon. I can't wait. How far is Waitsfield from White River Junction? It depends on route. If you take I-89 to Middlesex and down Rt 100 it is around 1 hr 15 min. If you take Exit 3 off of I-89 oyu have the option of going...

Re: Killington Colors
Excellent use of the early morning mist to create some beautiful photos. Even without bright foliage for a backdrop, you still have some great shots there.
It looks like there are plenty of leaves left on the tree there. They should be in top form by next weekend.

Best Bets (North to South): – Take Vermont Route 16 north out of Hardwick and follow it through Glover and into Barton, continuing northwest to Vermont Route 5A, also known as the Northeast Kingdom Byway. – Follow Vermont Route 5 between St. Johnsbury and Derby, passing West Burke, Coventry, and Ne...

Peacham is a great place to photograph the moonrise as well. The view to the east is excellent there.
