Hi all,

Thanks for the complements on the photos. Yes, I love Stark, NH too, epically in the snow. The horseback ride we took was in Chittenden in the Green Mountains, a few miles from Killington.

Thanks again everyone.

My New England Fall Photos

Hi Everyone, Well, our trip to Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine went well and we saw lots of foliage. It was certainly colder than we expected and it even snowed one day. My wife, being from Thailand, loved the snow and had no concept of autumn so it was a great trip for her. My photos can be found ...

It seems the weather has made the foliage erratic. Oct. 11 & 12 we went to Woodstock, Poultney and Killington. It was gone in Woodstock, too early in Poultney, and Killington was juuuuuuust right. BTW, if your in Killington, don't miss Thundering Brook Rd. Just wonderful.

Oh, yes, we have many oak trees in California. Large parts of the state are best described as "Oak and grass." Coastal Live Oak, California Live Oak and Black Oak are the most common.

I think it is a red oak, though I can't say for certain.

San Diego Fall photos... No, really!

Hi All, Well, one week from today I board the plane for Boston, then head for Vermont! It makes a week seem awfully long. Believe it or not, we do have Autumn in the mountains of San Diego. A few minutes ago I was on my Flickr site setting up a set to use for the photos I take in New England when I ...

Hi WXMAN76, I've planned my trip later than I should have; we'll arrive in Vermont on October 11. I've made some plans for Putney, Newfane, Lake St. Catherine, and Arlington/Battenkill river. From what you see now, do you think I'm correct in thinking that the color will be good in those places at t...

You know, here in San Diego, CA, on the border with Mexico, we have some trees that change color. They are usually planted near malls and along street, and yes, they change by early September. I'm sure it comes as a surprise that we even have changing trees in San Diego, but why on Earth do they cha...

Well, I'm not from New England, so I guess I need help with the lingo... What does "Popping" mean for leaves?

Yeah, I noticed the wind coming up... Have they said anything about how bad it will be?

Fingers crossed!

I noticed that they are showing the NEK peaking now on the map. The map from the same time last year still showed NEK as early. Does this mean the leaves will peak early this year? I'm about to kick myself for planning my trip for the week of October 11, but it's too late to change now.

Hmmmmm. The foliage meter on that site seems to show that Oct. 10 is when most of the state is in it's peak, but most of the advice here suggests an earlier peak. Does this mean an early peak is shaping up? Thanks.

Thanks, Andy. What about Poultney or Lake Saint Catherine? Would the foliage in a normal year be around the peak there on October 12?
