Re: Fall is just around the corner! A touch of autumn in the

Oh my CT. Just read your item that you have to shorten your trip or time to Vermont but you do plan on spending a few days in southern Vermont. As much time that you spent in northern Vermont with some of the sights and sounds and your reactions to many scenes etc. you will not doubt miss much of it...

Re: Autumn in New England - Pics

I was there from Oct 6 to Oct 10. What dates did you take those pictures and where. Too much foliage in the north came early and was about gone when I was there. You had some good pictures and I am sure you were there earlier than me. Even Peachum or the Jenny Farm was past peak when I was there. So...

Re: Foli-asms with ctyanky

I took the advice of Carol and CT in that there would still be good foliage when I arrived on Oct 6. In fact I even viewed the picture of Peachum. I don't think either one of the two or anybody else had any idea that the foliage change would be so rapid as it was this year. Peachum was even past pea...

Re: Foli-asms with ctyanky

Thanks for the info CT and Abbey. I also heard from the General Manager where we are staying and she reported that north of Lydonville would probably be peak but the area around Bradford and WRJ is not there yet but will be in another week. We always take in the Waitfield Warren area and was hopeful...

Re: Foli-asms with ctyanky

I have been reading the foliage reports and must say that I am discouraged of what it will look like when I get there. The foliage is much earlier than normal and my planning this year was for Oct 6th to Oct 10th. Am I correct to assume that the Northeast Kingdom will be past by Monday of this next ...

Re: This last weekend in Chester

CT: After a absence of four years, we are returning for our 11th visit the past 16 years to Vermont. So no Granddaughter weddings in October this year to curtail any planning. I view some wonderful exchanges about scenery, foliage reports, and activities which are very interesting so I try to do som...

Re: NY Adirondacks - Worth Driving Through?

I live in Nebraska and have been to Vermont for the fall foliage for the years from 1997 to 2008. Most of the time, we would go through the Adirondacks by turning off the New York Thruway at Utica and heading north on highway 28. We would continue to Old Forge and Mountain Lake and then head over to...

Re: I’m reconnected with the world!! Ready for a reality sho

Once again, I was unable to go to Vermont again. News of the flooding plus my wife's complete knee replacement surgery kept me in Nebraska again instead of enjoying the New England Fall Foliage. I have been following the problems with the early snowstorm you had and being without power for that long...

Re: Anyone from SW NY or NW PA?

I have been through SW New York and NW Pennsylvania many times on the way going to and from Vermont. SW New York is similar to Central Vermont as for foliage peak. But Letchworth which is farther north is slightly later because of closeness to water. The Watkins Glenn and Bath areas along with the I...

Phil: I read where you will do northeast West Virginia on your way to Florida. I have been there during foliage season and it is done by late October mainly because of elevation. If you are in western Virgina along I-81, it should be colorful. Southern West Virginia along I-77 should still be peak. ...

Your Photos

I was unable to make it to Vermont this year after being there 10 out of the past 13 years. These photos are fabulous and I was able to identify where many were taken. All were good and the valley shots were great. I will be anxious when you get them all identified so I can visit some of these areas...

Your Pictures

Pictures 2,3, and 4 of the Jenne farm are not very good pictures as for the filter you used. The sky is not blue like in the first picture and the 5th one down. All of the other pictures are great pictures. I was unable to get to Vermont this year but it certainly appears that the foliage was earlie...

Groton State Forest Owls Head view

CT Yanky: You have to practically be a monkey to reach this viewpoint in Groton State Park. The trail is very difficult and some steps must be 3 feet high. Once you are up there, the view is spectacular. There is a gravel road to a parking area off of the paved road through the park.

CT Yanky -- You had mentioned an attraction you would love to visit. As many times as you have been to Vermont, it is hard to believe that you have not made a stop at King Arthur flour in Norwich. It is a wonderful place to stop not only for the goodies but one can shop for all of the goodies that t...

Phil should reciprocate and display a picture of the one who posted his picture. <grin> That would create interest for another good contributor to the forum.
