Re: New England trip. Seeking suggestion

I think either Killington or St. Johnsbury are fine for a base. I would skip Stowe as I find it WAY to crowded in the Fall and hate sitting in traffic when there is so much of VT to see and experience. I agree with NEK - don't try to see everything... pick a spot and explore from that area. There is...

Re: New England trip. Seeking suggestion

Since this is a VT forum, most will suggest a VT destination :-) I use Killington as a home base and expect there to be good color there the weekend of September 30! The reason you don't hear much (commercially) about the North East Kingdom is because many of of the more commercial areas of VT tend ...

Re: Two questions regarding iPhone !!!

I have an iPhone and use Verizon. The network in VT is FAR better than years ago. I get a signal in most areas but there are a few places where the signal is weak and a call might drop. Does not happen a lot like it used to!! In terms of GPS coordinates, am not sure how to add those to a map in an i...

Re: Which weekend and which area to visit New England ?

Sparks - we rent a house every year we come to VT and it has worked out very well. We have also stayed in various hotels/motels for shorter trips. I don't know anything about the rental property you are asking about but all of my experiences have been positive. Good luck in making your decision!

Re: Can we get some Vermont photography going again?

Super Nice Tim!! We had some awesome Aurora here last week that I was able to capture. Started out with HUGE and BRIGHT color that lasted for about 20 minutes and then settled down quite a bit. It was an amazing site- all of the photographers were cheering and yelling!! Would LOVE to see it in VT wh...

Re: Which weekend and which area to visit New England ?

OK Sparks.... so, from Groton Forest area there are a number of ways to get to Killington area. I will share a route that is part highway/part smaller roads. I tried to highlight key words that you can look up to learn more about some of these places. See what you think about these routes - I can sh...

Re: Which weekend and which area to visit New England ?

Sparks, I think you picked the better of the 2 weekends and agree with Carol's suggestion that you consider just one hotel as a "home base". The only thing I might do differently is stay 3 nights in the Northeast Kingdom (VT) area and then a 4th night more in Central VT if that's an area y...

Re: Please Support the Locals

Great Suggestions Carol! So many VT businesses count on income during the leaf peeping season! Some of my favorite places to spend money in the Killington and surrounding region include: Sugar and Spice Restaurant - route 4 in Chittenden - great breakfast with a small gift shop in the basement. Exce...

Re: 'Spectacular' Autumn Foliage Is Forecast For New England = Article Blowing up Multiple Websites and Newspapers!

Thanks for the real time report Carol/Abby! It happens every year that mid-August rolls around and Foliage fever begins. We can be sure that the weather will get cooler, the trees will begin their change, colors will emerge - then fade, leaves will fall and stick season will take hold! what we canno...

Re: Lake Willoughby in summer...very early signs of fall?

I just returned from a quick trip to Stowe, VT and a night in the ADK's. Everything is still very green and summer like. NO signs of color change and plenty of heat typical of early August. THe locals in Stowe said their Spring and early summer were quite rainy so the trees have had plenty of moistu...

Re: Have You Started Thinking About or Planning Your 2017 VT Foliage Trip?

Thanks Ctyanky for the info. We are pretty open to timing, it just whats the best time to come. We are pretty open to just about anything. We aren't into hiking but don't mind driving for day trips. Probably would like to stay in 1 location and trip out from there. And location isn't really an issu...

Re: Website Update

That's a phenomenal story Kerry and a fantastic sunset to end your Fall Foliage excursion. I always appreciate the "work" of getting awesome images but am even more grateful for those magic moments when good luck, timing and the kindness of others lend themselves to specific experiences. T...
