Continuing My Quest to Climb Vermont's Fire Towers!

Weekend hiking weather has been nothing short of amazing here in the Northeast and this weekend promises more of the same! So much so, that in my attempt to "challenge myself" for my VT fall foliage hikes, I am hiking CT's highest peak in Salisbury CT to see the Lion's Head Overlook! I'm s...

When I went to the festival last year, I ...

Re: Late September?

Hi Brian and welcome to the foliage forum! In my experience, in the last few years, foliage has been a tad late (maybe a week?) due to many reasons. Chasing the foliage color change is a gamble; maybe this year it could even follow a normal pattern. I think that your folks would find early color in ...

15. WESTON PRIORY, WESTON, VT I recently saw a post on a Vermont based instagram about the Weston Priory and it jogged my memory of a past desire to visit there someday. I would love to take a “time out” from my usual whirlwind foliage itinerary and listen to the chants and tour the facility. I have...

50 Shades of GREEN!!!

What a spring delight we are having! Maybe even 100 shades of G R E E N ! So many spring colors surround us now, and the hills are alive with every shade of green imaginable! As I was driving alongside one of our mountain roads, I was awestruck by the variety of colors awarded to us by Mother Nature...

Wow! This is going to be an interesting weekend in Brownington! My new VT friend who owns a house in nearby Charleston just asked if I wanted to kayak and/or canoe on the Clyde River if the weather is great. Re: Six Month Countdown to Autumn in Vermont 2019!

Hello everyone! As I write this, we are in the low 30's and parts of CT are experiencing frost! It pains me to keep the furnace going! Yesterday, we were checking out back roads in the NW corner and it was flurrying. The lakes, rivers and streams were extremely high and some flooding was app...

Re: Photog Ed McGuirk in Nature Photographers Network, excellent article: The Colors of Spring – The “Other” Foliage Sea

Hi Ed, I can feel your enthusiasm coming through! We are about 50% leafed out here in northern CT with those mint green leaves showing off! Magnolias were in full bloom by this past weekend and azaleas, cherry blossoms and dogwoods are totally amazing! I had been hiking quite a bit this last week an...
