Re: September 21st, first State foliage report for the 2022 season

I just saw that we are having another wind/breezy event here Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Mother Nature better hurry up and tap down the wind in the coming weeks. Also, anyone reading about the Florida hurricane coming up the east coast the first week of October? Say it ain't so!

Re: September 21st, first State foliage report for the 2022 season

We are experiencing steady, high wind gusts here in northern CT from the passing hurricane's wind field zones. Started last night. I'm glad the trees are still green or in the early stages right now. Always something to be mindful of in the future. Hopefully, we will not experience windy conditions ...

Happy First Day of Autumn 2022!!!

Hello SOVers Fall Foliage Fanatics! Wishing you all a wonderful Autumn season on this first day of fall 2022! We are getting copious amounts of rain here in CT and same up in VT and NH. We are making quite a dent in the drought and the trees are soaking in their nourishment. A cold front is arriving...

Pumpkins, sweet cider, Indian corn, apples from the orchard and CIDER DONUTS! I'm ready to dive into autumn!

Hello fall foliage fanatics! Ok, this craving of mine just got the best of me so off I went to the NW corner of CT to an orchard that's been on my CT bucket list for quite awhile. I was also checking out the foliage progression in the NW corner's higher elevations. Things are moving a lot faster up ...

Re: Last week of September or mid October

Hi Colorado Mom! So happy you are going back to Vermont!!!! This is a tough question but if it were me, I would choose the first option (next week) because there is a cold snap coming in a couple of days and things could move forward. You would have to head to the NEK or northern NH. But I'm sure yo...

Re: A stellar Autumn day in VT! Jamaica State Park hike to the overlook, Chester Fall Foliage Festival 9/17/22 early col

Hi Ed, great to see you back here on the forum. And yes, a great day indeed. I've been up to VT several times this summer and all the days were gorgeous. Next time I go up, I'm not going to pack in other events on top of the hikes. Just too much! As far as your question on the water levels.... I can...

A stellar Autumn day in VT! Jamaica State Park hike to the overlook, Chester Fall Foliage Festival 9/17/22 early color!

Well, what a gorgeous day today in Southern VT. Near perfect hiking conditions with bluebird skies and VERY cool temps to start the day. (And no bugs!) We started out at 8 this morning, a little later than expected and took 91 to 30 to Jamaica State Park. I was layered up - 47 degrees, long shirt, f...

Re: Fall Festivals updated on Foliage-Vermont

Hi Colorado Mom! I'm on my way to Vermont! First the hike, then the Chester Fall Foliage Festival! Hope to fit everything in but it depends on how I do on this new mountain hike. It is in the mid 40s there so maybe it will warm up a bit, but wow, what a gorgeous autumn day on tap! I'm look...

Re: Fall Festivals updated on Foliage-Vermont

I'm thinking of heading to Chester this weekend for the foliage festival. It will be my fifth time but I need a VT fall foliage festival fix. (FFFF). I need a new fall wreath for my front door and they have new food venues this year. Plus, I want to stop at the Vermont Country Store for so...

Re: First Day of Meteorological Fall Ushers in Cool, Crisp and Breezy Autumn Air to the Northeast! 9/1/22

We seem to be getting ramped up with storms and rain as of late. The trees are looking fine despite the earlier drought. We are now in abnormally dry instead of severe or moderate drought. The temps are taking a dive here Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning in northern CT. 40s and some 30s, so if ...

Re: Directions to another view of Mt. Mansfield

Gopal, unless you can find out where this little pond is for a landmark, your guess is as good as any. On your last request, at least there were farm landmarks but this could be taken from anywhere. Thoughts?

Re: Need directions for this view of Mt. Mansfield

You will need to be on Bryce Road for this shot. Just an update............... Moose Valley Drive is too short and flat with little elevation gain to get this view. CT

Hi Kevin (it's Kevin right?). Nice to see you back here on the forum. I think we are getting a lot of rain on Labor Day and maybe into Tuesday, we really need it. I am confident Mother Nature will see us through here in southern NE but I think Vermont will be the shining foliage star this year becau...

Re: Need directions for this view of Mt. Mansfield

Gopal, after much reflection, I stand corrected. This is on Upper Pleasant Valley Road but the road used to take this shot escapes me. I'll try to remember!
