Re: Vermont's Liquid Gold is About to be Tapped! The Sweet Season is on its way!

https://www.vermontmaplefestival.com/ The maple festival in St. Albans just came out. It is in the latter part of April, almost a month later than the state wide festival in March. I heard the one in St. Albans is absolutely amazing. Still waiting for details on the schedule for March 23/24...… Stay...

Re: Trip Photos 2018

Hi Janice! Thank you for the kind words! If you are going to any of the NEK Fall Foliage Festivals, I can meet you there. As I will be staying in the town center of Peacham for a week, I'm pretty flexible as to meetup dates/times. I also am probably staying in East Burke to start out the trip so tha...

Vermont's Liquid Gold is About to be Tapped! The Sweet Season is on its way!

Vermont's Maple Open House Weekend is March 23rd and 24th, 2019. Below is the link to their website. I will update it as soon as the map of the sugar houses is populated, and according to the administrator of the site with whom I spoke recently, it should be in about a week. https://vermontmaple.org...

Re: Advice to first-time VT visitor - 1 week itinerary?

JR: You're welcome! I think you are going to be very happy with your choices, to complement both of your wishes in lodging. The town of Woodstock itself, is bustling and spirited and pretty touristy (not a bad thing at all!) and there is an energy there I can't quite describe! There is a whirlwind o...

Re: A New Year is here! Our 2019 Vermont Fall Foliage Plans Await! There's Nothing Like Autumn in Vermont!

Hi foliage friends! This winter is certainly wacky with freeze ups and warm ups, ice and snow. Our recent bit of zeros was enough to keep me thinking of warmer months to come. Alas! More single digits arriving for February! Some days, I feel like spring is just around the corner and others, the biti...

Re: Trip Photos 2018

Hi Janice and Happy New Year to you! You certainly captured some excellent scenes this past season. I truly enjoyed each and every one of them. Despite the grey skies we all endured you still managed those beautiful reflections! I was intrigued by the reflections of the foliage on the wet road. That...

Hi Loafer, looks like another great ski season in VT this year with the snows arriving this week. The oaks sure put on a show this season, didn't they? Have fun skiing at Mt. Snow! :D

Re: Past Peak in VT Still Beautiful To Me! Day Trip 10/25 SoVT

Hi Janice! Things were quite late in So VT this year so I'm not surprised what you saw on the photos. It was an incredibly late season in Central CT as well and the colors in the sugar maples were the best I've seen in many years. I was oohing and aahing around every corner! The oaks were more inten...

Re: Tamarack Trees

Hi Ed: not sure if you would like to use this resource but they list all the county foresters in VT. I have used them in the past in different locations and they are incredibly helpful and on the spot with loads of information (i.e. when I went into Lewis Pond and needed updates on the road conditio...

Re: Past Peak in VT Still Beautiful To Me! Day Trip 10/25 SoVT

hi triz: forgot to mention, we took route 121 out of Grafton and followed the Saxtons River through Cambridgeport to 91. It was beautiful, maybe a bit past peak. We tried to go back a different way to change things up a bit...…………

Re: My Vermont "Bucket List" is Growing!!!

Ugh, I could kick myself. I just looked at my bucket list and lo and behold, not one of my 12 listed did I complete. :( Either I was too busy chasing the color or there were some inclement days in the 2 week trip. The day Phil and I were supposed to go to the State House for a tour, we decided at th...

Re: Past Peak in VT Still Beautiful To Me! Day Trip 10/25 SoVT

We had quite a mixed bag! Snow on the mountain, stick season, past peak, peak and also green with emerging colors! I was mostly surprised to see hillsides in green at the VT border. I'm curious as to how and when the season will come to a halt with the late transitions not only in VT, but in souther...

Re: Poconos Foliage - October 28th

Hi triz: you really did get some nice color. My favorite was the shot of Jim Thorpe town. I like the wall of color and the cars and folks moving about. And the clock tower! Glad you had a very nice day! I hope to get to the Poconos some year, it is so close to me as well. I'm still chasing color her...
