Re: Early Signs of Fall..........

I was up in the hills of the NE corner of CT and things are more noticeable now in terms of trees looking like they are losing their chlorophyll with random branches approaching a slight change in color. With all the rain the trees are so dense and hanging over the roads. I felt like I was in a rain...

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

Triz: Yes, the former for sure. When you leave Williamstown and head south on 7 keep your eyes on the rear view mirror for spectacular views of the mountains behind you and then find a place to stop. Fields on either side and great pull offs. If you would rather eat in Williamstown, there are a lot ...

Re: Some 2018 foliage forecasts

Hi Janice, nice to see you back here! This guy is great, I read his posts all the time and he puts it out there as he sees it. Nice write up indeed! Let's all hope for a sweet foliage season and it's not long before we all head up to VT. I hope we can finally meet up. Are you still going to the Verm...

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

I agree with KC. This is a great idea and you should see nice color. Are you coming down route 7 into Pownal? The drive south on 7 into Williamstown is amazing. (Williams College Campus is gorgeous!!!!) The color should be wonderful at that time. Keep south on 7 and you'll hit route 2 east into Nort...

Re: Early Signs of Fall..........

Hi Aggie and welcome to our foliage forum! Great to see you here and it has been hot here too! I used to live in Austin and I know what the summers are like in Texas! To move into your question. Is there ANY chance of pushing the dates further out? You might see early color in the far reaches of the...

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

Grafton, Newfane and Chester are awesome. You would love Chester! There are quite a few B&B's there and the town has nice eateries. Actually, there is a really nice inn just outside of Brattleboro near a covered bridge but the name escapes me. It's right near a river. You can search for these lo...

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

Hi Triz! May I add a comment to your question? Don't start second guessing yourself. You made a nice choice and you will love that area. Remember, you can ALWAYS travel from your home base and find color with reports coming in. You may want to even start where you are for the two days and end up in ...

Re: It's 2018 and time to kickstart your Vermont fall foliage plans!

Wow! We are now just six weeks away from the first day of autumn and seven weeks from today I'll already be in Vermont and riding through the Green Mountains on my half day trail ride! Next month! Can you believe it? I'm so ready to get up there in the mountains! With drenching rains today, the land...

Re: Early Signs of Fall..........

We are having drenching rains one after another here in New England and some places look like a jungle in my area! Couldn't be happier! The trees are loving this and I don't recall the forests looking this healthy especially in July and August. So despite the heat, and if the rains keep up a bit lon...

Re: Early Signs of Fall..........

We are roasting here in New England. It's a yucky week for weather. Lots of 90's and killer humidity. I hate to rush the summer away but this is not pleasant! I'm ready for a turtleneck, down vest and jeans and of course, my LLBEAN boots! I just bought a red and black checked cap from them and can't...

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

triz: too early to tell how the season will pan out. Perhaps you might think about the Champlain Valley area around that time, or SW or SE VT. Why don't you just go with the flow once you get there? Just get your lodging somewhere in central or southcentral VT and follow the color according to the r...

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

Hi Triz! Great to see you back on the forum and that you are thinking of returning to Vermont. You photos last year were excellent! As far as those dates, I would think you would find the tail end of high color in the NEK or maybe even past peak, but every season is so different! Any chance to move ...

Early Signs of Fall..........

Hello friends! With all the rain we have been receiving over the last few weeks, the trees are looking mighty fine! Lush and healthy with dense canopies. I see no leaf drop due to the heat. Here in northern CT there are signs of the coming fall. Many trees are losing their bright green color and lea...

Re: Fall in Vermont is Now Just Around the Corner!

Yo! Have you noticed the days getting shorter? We've lost 47 minutes of daylight since June 21st! I actually just realized it last night when I looked outside and saw blackness! I was a little surprised myself. It should even get a lot more noticeable by the end of August. We just need to get...
