triz, that photo of Equinox Pond is a stunner! We hiked in there last year and also to the summit. Glad you got there! It still is an amazing shot despite the rain! CT

Re: Visitor from California - help needed to time foliage viewing for Southern VT

If you are in the extreme northwest corner of CT, I would try Canaan, Salisbury, Lakeville, Colebrook and route 22 around Millerton and Armenia NY. The twin lakes in Salisbury should be nice and route 44 in Canaan has mountains on the south side as you are traveling towards East Canaan that should h...

Also, some trees may be decimated by insects in certain locations and the tree's color will be absent or variegated. Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) has been relentless this year unfortunately for example...………...

Re: Enfield, CT - Color change rapidly occuring

Hi Triz: I found a nice link on our CT DEEP site. It is the type of tree that will determine its color. Also, variations will occur within the species due to soil changes, climate changes, location of the tree in the natural environment, etc. Many factors do come into play, some reds may be muted du...

Re: Enfield, CT - Color change rapidly occuring

Hey loafer, glad you deferred judgment on the foliage here! We still have green with little leaf drop and color emerging every day. I traveled around North Canton and Simsbury and West Avon today. The color is still early but coming on strong with a lot of reds and golds, less orange for some reason...

Re: SouthWest VT 10/15-17 report and slideshow

Mark: Sunday the 27th works if all comes into place with the weather/foliage. If so, we can lunch at the Vanilla Bean Café in Pomfret. I can meet you at the parking lot there or some other place in Woodstock. I have a CT Delorme and will check the roads I did two years ago. Let's connect next Friday...

Re: SouthWest VT 10/15-17 report and slideshow

Nice job once again Mark! You captured quite a lot of pastoral scenes and many lovely barns (getting used to your style!). There was a nice cluster of red barns early in the slideshow. Where was this taken? It sounds like you had a really relaxing time and am glad you were able to enjoy your piece o...

Re: Visitor from California - help needed to time foliage viewing for Southern VT

Prabal: NW CT is usually ahead of NE CT, however, I agree with the person you spoke with in Litchfield. We are still about 3-4 days from peak depending on the temperature dips and based on my travels into central CT today. This morning, a photographer at my stables said he was on route 183 near the ...

Re: My Photos from Vermont 2018

Ed: next year (after seeing your photos) I am definitely climbing Nichols Ledge. You compared the view to Owls Head and determined it was more dramatic and you liked it better. Less obstructive views?

Did you go back to Quabbin? Update? CT

Happy Fall to you Bob! Thanks for popping in here. If you are able, let me know how the colors develop in the Woodbury area. We are just starting to see really nice colors in northern CT but still appears to be a green scene! CT

hi triz! Excellent report and I loved your Notch Road shot. I am very glad you were able to take a couple of my recommendations for the Publyk House and Bridge of Flowers. Did you eat at the Blue Benn Diner for breakfast in Bennington? Great place! I agree with you that the views from Mt. Greylock a...

Re: The Quabbin Reservoir Today with Ed McGuirk! Thank you Ed! Massachusetts' True Gem!

Ed: thanks for the data on the eminent domain. It really made me sad that this happened to the folks living in the towns that were flooded over for the creation of the reservoir. I love these photos of your sunrise, now seeing that we were standing in the exact spot where you took them. Getting ther...
