Re: Lewis Pond Overlook Directions by Phil (pwt)

Hello all! We are still planning on the Lewis Pond trek on Tuesday the 3rd of October by way of Stone Dam Road. John from the forum, has reported washouts on Henshaw. I'm waiting to hear from Phil about a meeting place/time (rain cancels). We are also visiting Moose Bog in the state’s Wenlock Wildli...

Horseback Riding in the Green Mountains - A Perfect Way to See Foliage from a Different Perspective

Hello to those who ride and who want to try riding in the Greens during foliage season! Almost every year I am in Vermont for foliage season, I ride at the Vermont Icelandic Horse Farm in Fayston, a hamlet just north of Waitsfield. The Icelandic horses are an incredible ride! They are sturdy and sur...

Thanks for the compliment Bob! I enjoy sharing my VT and CT passion with others. Have a super time in Vermont! When you are up there, I'll be trolling the northwest corner of CT and the Quiet Corner of CT on the other side!

Re: So Mother Nature Has Thrown Us A Curve Ball...

At first glance, sometimes people don't see the potential of "early color". A "soft opening" so to speak, can burst into a hillside of unimaginable color in due time. Don't underestimate early progression as all it takes are the right ingredients that are soon to come to make the...

Tim (NEK): that mushroom photo was outstanding. The detail was great! Thanks for posting the photos of the foliage too. Maple leaf cutters, very interesting article! I think you are right. The simultaneous statewide color display might be the way the foliage season is going to play out. Let the show...

Oh Minnesotaman: all I can say is "Wow", "hmmmm", "oh dear", "ugh", etc. :| Sorry your day was disappointing! I'm sure by the weekend things will improve.... Time for some non-leaf peeping fun and adventure for a couple of days? :? Maybe a cruise on Lake Champ...

Janice! I hope we are going to meetup this season. Still planning on Lewis Pond on the 3rd of October. If you are in Waitsfield during the first week of October, let me know, otherwise I'll be in Middlebury for Columbus Day Weekend. Sparks: Do not change your dates! The color will be there for you! A cold front is expected to drop down from Canada according to WCAX around Friday, Sept. 29th and the progression will resume. Don't worry! You can chase the color around the state when you get there! :D

Re: Is there any pass for all state parks/forests ?

https://www.vtstateparks.com/fees.html Hi Sparks: Visit this site for information. I highly recommend visiting Seyon Lodge State Park, one of Vermont's hidden gems. You can put a donation in the box for a visit at the entrance to Noyes Pond there. There is hiking all around the pond. If you go to Ma...

So Mother Nature Has Thrown Us A Curve Ball...

More summer weather is forecast for all of next week. As a matter of fact, starting Saturday, we will have temperatures near 90 through Tuesday and mid 80s through Thursday! I checked the forecast for VT on WCAX and the degree difference is minimal! 90's doesn't sit well with me at this point as I j...

I agree with Carol's comment on the lodging. I would concentrate on looking at some options for places to stay at this very busy time of the year! Get a feel for what is available now. CT
