Re: Foliage Report! 9/22 Reds, Orange, Gold, Purple and Yellow! Route 9 Highlands SW VT 40-50% changed! Some peak spots

Thanks Colorado! It was a glorious weekend in VT! I'm glad we decided to skip the hike and fall festival because chasing the colors was so much fun (except for the class 4 road adventure!). The views at Hogback Mountain on the route 9 overlook were unreal! It was packed and the brewery was fil...

Foliage Report! 9/22 Reds, Orange, Gold, Purple and Yellow! Route 9 Highlands SW VT 40-50% changed! Some peak spots!

Whoa! Ok, so today we decided to forego VT hiking and VT foliage festivals to check out the color along the Route 9 Highlands in Woodford. My dear friend Charles (ixl) from this forum always told me, "if you want to see early color go to the highlands as it often is similar to what may appearing in ...

Re: Best time to come

Hi Sowmya: I would have to think about some stops between NYC/Manchester as I don't know which interstates/routes you have in mind? Anyways, glad you mentioned you have kids! One or two places came to mind first off and one is the Merck Forest and Farmland: https://www.merckforest.org/ and Bromley M...

Re: Witness Tree

Hi Al: totally agree, will wait until that first weekend in October (will be in Stowe), and will have been in VT almost 10 days. I also want to head to where the foliage is glorious! Right now, I'm going a bit crazy developing routes for many friends who are not familiar with the area and have been ...

Re: Witness Tree

Al: I am sort of rethinking my route and have a question for you. Have you been to Waitsfield and the back roads at all? ie Common Road, Bragg, East Warren, App Gap, Mad River Glenn area? Rather than taking the Roxbury Mtn. Road (great views but hard to pull over at summit) to route 12 south to the ...

Re: Foliage in Quechee

Hello Webster and welcome to the forum! This is a hard one for me to answer but I will step out on a limb and say that it may be too early for peak here on that date. This foliage season is presenting a different scenario so far and no one is really sure how the 2019 season will pan out except that ...

Re: Couple photos of Lake Willoughby from Mt Pisgah

KC: thank you. Uphill no worries for me! I hope the color is ok when we climb to the overlook. The only days I have open are when I am in Peacham as I am hiking with my friend. Looking at October 2, 3 or 4 early morning or mid afternoon. What do you recommend for time of day for best lighting? Also,...

Re: Updates from the Central NEK 2019

Hi Tim and KC: thank you both for your input on the Wheeler trailhead. I found this link confirming the new trail and why it happened. It is a good article. Why can't people respect the easements provided by private land owners? This is disturbing, "The decision to relocate the lower Wheeler Mountai...

Re: Best time to come

Hi Sowmya: Welcome to the forum! If I had to choose I would take the later weekend if that is the only time you have besides the earlier one. Hard to tell at this point, but you can ALWAYS travel north to find the color! I agree with triz, last year was quite late but we are facing another scenario ...

Re: Witness Tree

Al: I just looked at my itinerary for Oct. 7 8 9. I can be free any day weather dependent and can move around two meetups and the hike as well so will be flexible. Blueberry Lake is an afternoon shot. Have you been on Plunkton Road and Fuller Hill Road and Roxbury Mountain Road? I have a great route...
