Re: It's 2018 and time to kickstart your Vermont fall foliage plans!

Hello! Well I'm all packed and ready to go early Friday morning and it will be a gorgeous day and weekend! I know when I cross the border, that big smile will come across my face and there is not a better feeling than knowing you are starting your Vermont foliage vacation once again! I'm looking for...

Re: Early Signs of Fall..........

From summer to fall and back to 80 here in northern CT today. However, the weekend is looking great up north and it will cool down again. After the cold front today with some rather large storms, it will feel like autumn again. More importantly, the trees are looking so healthy! We just need that co...

Re: Foliage forecast update

Ed: I will come there to meet you by mid morning. I looked at so many routes to get there! If you say the north side of the reservoir is the best then that is where I will go. Where is the visitor's center and would that be a good meeting place? Also, on google maps I saw an observation tower! Is it...

Re: Foliage forecast update

Ed: the Monday and Tuesday dates would work for me, 15th and 16th, or a Sunday (14th) weather dependent. I'll map out my route. I can't do Saturdays because I work at the horse stables. Let's definitely keep this on the back burner and yes, I can walk 30 minutes (I am a hiker). I am interested in th...

Re: Early Signs of Fall..........

Due to the recent cool nights (brrrrr) the trees are starting to pop in my area in the higher elevations. What is appearing at the tips of the canopies is ruby red and orange, so I am hopeful this will continue to emerge up north! As I mentioned before, the trees remain healthy and lush and there is...

Re: Foliage forecast update

Fall color in the Quabbin area carries on later than in Vermont, so any date in the range of 10/14 to 10/20, would work for color, and I'll be around. If color goes early/normal in VT, I may cancel my Killington dates and come back to MA on 10/11. Lets discuss this later, if you think a week 3 Octo...

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

Triz, as promised and sorry for the delay! I extrapolated the paragraph from a link on boston.com and in order to give them credit I also included their web link to the amazing hikes to be found in the Berkshires! See trail map at bottom for Greylock! It will not disappoint! I've been to Mt. Washing...

Re: Foliage forecast update

Hi Ed: I had to laugh when I saw you that turned on the heat. I refuse to put the heat on yet! But yes, the cold weather should move the color forward. I was a bit surprised when I woke up this morning, the transition came on so fast! BTW, If you travel to the Quabbin at all after Columbus...

Re: NEK and Moose Alley NH

Triz: I will send you a link to the hiking trails for Mt. Greylock. You will love it there! I've been a couple of times and the 360 views at the summit are to rival any of the mountains in Vermont. I will post the link for you tomorrow. You will also enjoy the Mohawk Trail. Drive around the Savoy Fo...

Re: Foliage forecast update

Hi Snookman, nice to see you back on the forum! The foliage is a tad late but it is not more than a whole week late from what I am hearing, probably even less. The last 3 nights have been perfect for snapping the color into gear. I'm always cautious on saying "if the color is late" because...

bid: Drive up Plunkton Road to Fuller Hill Road and turn left. The views at the top of Fuller Hill Road are like being on top of the world. The long views are outstanding! Fuller Hill will take you back to Warren. Don't forget to stop at Blueberry Lake (afternoon shot). It is an amazing place for ph...

Re: Happy Autumn 2018!!!

Oh my gosh! As I was driving over the mountain to the stables this morning, a song by Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" came on (my favorite love song!) and as I came to the summit, reds and oranges appeared at the tops of the trees! Does it get any better than that? :D :D :D Harvest Moon, first...
