Re: Northeast Kingdom Destinations

Carol[/quote] Carol thanks for the help. I re-checked the weather forecast again this morning, and it does look good. I don't know if you are still a member of the South Shore Camera club, but I am presenting a program there about macro photography on 9/25/18 at 7pm. If you attend the meeting, stop ...

Re: Northeast Kingdom Destinations

Carol/Abby, thank you so much for the helpful information, I was hoping you might chime in here. Your foliage book is outstanding. It's a wonderful resource, and I highly recommend it. Last year I visited a number of NEK locations in your book, and they were great spots, it was just frustrating to ...

Re: Upstate NY to Franconia NH with stop in vt

Pats Fan: I totally agree with NEK on his directions. Kirby Road and Ridge Road are both beautiful. NEK: This is the first year in a while that I won't be up the last weekend of September.......would love to have visited you at the E Burke Fall Foliage Festival. Good luck and I hope you make some de...

Re: Vermont (Stowe) and NH (White Mt and Suger hill) 5th Oct OR 13th Oct?

Hello Dolly! (I just had to say that ha ha) Welcome to the forum. I agree with the others about doing the first dates you mentioned. However, I just want to let you know this is Columbus Day Weekend and you are planning on going to Woodstock and Stowe. Please be prepared for a lot of stop and go tra...

Re: Upstate NY to Franconia NH with stop in vt

One more thing Pats Fan.......as far as directions from East Burke to Franconia.....I highly suggest you take the following drive. When possible, I always recommend avoiding the highways, as I personally would rather follow the side roads and take in the scenery and be able to stop and pull over for...

Re: Upstate NY to Franconia NH with stop in vt

Route 15 from Morrisville, VT east to US 2 in West Danville should have better color at that time. Darling Hill Road is a great ride. You should also do route 5A out of West Burke up to Lake Willoughby. It's worth the trip. Hi Pats Fan.....great name by the way! :-) I was going to suggest the drive...

Re: Early Signs of Fall..........

Hi Carol, I think we have two wonderful Texans posting here on the forum. Aggiedude (Marty - further down in the post) is the one who is coming mid September due to wife's obligations with family. Texas aggie is on target for Columbus Day Weekend. I hope I got them both separated in travel dates???...

Hi Wentworth,
I've been keeping my eye out on the forecast as well. Perhaps this year the timing of the foliage will be more "normal" (If there is such a thing as normal.....but more typical may be a better term) this year than in the past few years. Getting excited!

Re: Early Signs of Fall..........

Hi Texas: I'm sure you are in your final countdown, days now! Our trees here in northern CT are turning now as you round the bend at every corner. Yes! i can't wait! Any early guess on what the Woodstock-Cavendish area might look like Columbus day weekend? We should be able to drive 1.5 hrs north o...

Hi Bid. Looks like you have gotten some wonderful advice! I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed looking at your portfolio. You have so many beautiful images, but the one that stands out the most for me is the sunrise at Porcupine State Park. It's really a spectacular photograph. One of...

Re: Can we get some Vermont photography going again?

Happy New Year Tim. I've been keeping a close eye on the weather and temperatures up in the NEK over the past several weeks. I'm so glad you are finally out of the deep freeze. We have been below zero here in MA, but of course not nearly as cold as it's been up there for all of you way up North. We ...

Re: The Color is here!

The Northeast Kingdom exploded in color overnight as well. The higher elevations are mostly cooked and past peak. The mid to lower elevations are bright and vibrant. Macallister Pond ablaze in bright vibrant reds this morning that are comparable to some of the reds from last year. The Montgomery are...
