Some of these pictures were collected by Bob Walker, a former member of the Vermont legislature. He put them on a poster, about four years ago, as part of a protest against the state's decision to close a number of rest centers. The protest didn't work. The rest centers remain closed because of the costs in maintaining them, and today you still must travel miles on Interstate 91 before you can "go" at an approved stop. The situation has resulted in a number of "unofficial" stopping places.
