"Hearthside, streamside, now come unwind. Where once there was the same old grind." Innkeeper Barbara Thaeder |

Bailey's Mills is named after Levi Bailey, a successful, but crusty entrepreneur from the 1800's. When it was built, the property included a number of mills (no one seems to know how many exactly) that were built on a brook, close to the house. Very little remains of the mills, except the heavy stone foundations and a dam. The property is surrounded by rolling pastures and woodlands. You reach it by following a meandering unpaved road, 1.3 miles west of Highway 106. Besides the attractions of Woodstock, the area is ideal for hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, canoeing and cross country skiing. |
